What Is All-on-X?

All-on-X is a modern full-arch restoration technique that uses four to six strategically placed implants to support a fixed bridge of teeth. This approach provides a stable alternative to traditional dentures and is suitable for many patients who want a predictable, long-term solution for extensive tooth loss.

With detailed digital planning, All-on-X often removes the need for extensive bone grafting, depending on clinical suitability.

Full Mouth Dental Implants Before and After

All-on-X Treatment: Step-by-Step

Comprehensive Consultation + CBCT Scan

Your first visit includes a detailed discussion of your goals, photos, clinical assessment, and a CBCT scan to evaluate bone structure and plan your treatment precisely.

Digital Implant Planning

Using your 3D scan, we design the ideal placement of each implant and plan your new smile with aesthetics, function, and longevity in mind.

Implant Placement Appointment

Four to six per arch are placed at carefully selected positions, and any remaining non-restorable teeth may be removed during this appointment.

Temporary Teeth (If Suitable)

A temporary fixed bridge may be provided for use during healing. This allows you to enjoy a functional and aesthetic smile while the implants integrate.

Healing Phase

After your implant placement appointment, the implants are given time to integrate with your natural bone. This integration period typically takes 3 to 6 months, depending on individual healing response, bone density and overall oral health.

During this time:

  • You will usually wear a temporary fixed bridge, allowing you to speak and smile comfortably while the implants stabilise.
  • A soft or modified diet is recommended during the early healing phase to protect the implants.
  • You will attend periodic review appointments so we can monitor healing, ensure the bridge remains comfortable and make adjustments if needed.
  • Your dentist will provide personalised guidance to support predictable healing and long-term success.
Dental Implantation Steps - Step by Step

Final Custom Bridge

Once your implants have fully integrated, you will return for the design and placement of your final custom bridge. This bridge is crafted using durable and aesthetic materials, tailored to your bite, facial structure and smile goals.

During this stage:

  • We take precise digital scans or impressions to design your final bridge.
  • The design stage allows you to review tooth shape, size and shade options so your new smile feels natural and suits your preferences.
  • Once completed, your final bridge is fitted securely to the implants.
  • Your dentist will provide ongoing maintenance advice, including hygiene routines and review schedules, to help protect your new full-arch restoration long-term.

Frequently Asked Questions

All-on-X Implants Brisbane — Frequently Asked Questions

What are All-on-X implants?

All-on-X implants are a full-arch restoration technique where four to six dental implants are placed in strategic positions to support a fixed bridge of teeth. Two implants are positioned at the front of the jaw, and two are placed further back at a carefully planned angle. This angled placement helps maximise contact with the available bone, which is why some patients who have reduced bone volume may still be suitable without needing bone grafting. This approach provides a stable, long-term solution for replacing a full arch of missing or failing teeth while keeping the number of implants to a minimum.

How much do All-on-X implants cost?

The cost of All-on-X treatment varies depending on your bone structure, jaw anatomy, the materials used, and whether any additional procedures such as extractions are required. Because every patient’s situation is different, we always provide a detailed, personalised quote following your consultation and CBCT scan — so you know exactly what is involved before committing to treatment. To make full-arch implant treatment more accessible, we offer flexible payment plans from $50 per week through Afterpay, Humm, ZipPay, and Denticare interest-free payment plans. Many patients also explore early release of superannuation for medically necessary dental treatment, which our team can help guide you through. Call us on 07 3269 2443 to discuss your options.

What does All-on-X recovery involve?

Most patients experience some swelling, tenderness, and mild discomfort for a few days following implant placement, which is normal and manageable with pain relief as directed by your dentist. A soft or modified diet is recommended during the early healing phase to protect the implants while they begin to integrate with the bone. This integration period — known as osseointegration — typically takes three to six months, depending on your bone density, overall health, and individual healing response. During this time you will usually wear a temporary fixed bridge so you can speak, eat, and smile comfortably. We schedule regular review appointments throughout the healing phase to monitor progress, ensure the bridge remains comfortable, and make any adjustments needed. Your dentist will provide a personalised recovery plan at your appointment.

Do you offer IV sedation?

Yes. We offer both IV sedation and oral sedation at our Sandgate practice for suitable patients undergoing implant surgery. IV sedation allows you to sleep through the procedure entirely — you will have little to no memory of the treatment and wake up with it complete. Oral sedation produces a deep state of relaxation without full unconsciousness, which suits patients who feel anxious but prefer a lighter option. Dr Vikram Bansal will assess your suitability and discuss the best sedation pathway for you at your consultation.

Are payment plans available?

Yes — we offer Afterpay, Humm, ZipPay, and Denticare interest-free payment plans, as well as support for patients exploring early superannuation release for medically necessary dental treatment. Our team will walk you through each option and help you find a payment pathway that suits your budget.

What if I currently wear dentures?

All-on-X is one of the most popular options for patients who are tired of loose, uncomfortable, or unstable dentures. Unlike traditional dentures that rest on the gums and can shift during speaking or eating, All-on-X implants are fixed permanently in place — giving you the confidence to eat, speak, and smile without worrying about movement. Many patients who have worn dentures for years find the improvement in comfort, function, and quality of life to be significant. A CBCT scan at your consultation allows us to assess your bone structure and confirm whether All-on-X is the right pathway for you. Even patients with some bone loss may still be suitable depending on the assessment.

Will I be without teeth during treatment?

For most suitable patients, a temporary fixed bridge is provided on the same day as or shortly after implant placement, so you will not need to go without teeth during the healing phase. This temporary bridge allows you to speak clearly, eat soft foods, and maintain a normal appearance while your implants integrate with the bone over the following three to six months. Once osseointegration is complete, your final custom bridge is designed and fitted. Your dentist will confirm at your consultation whether same-day temporary teeth are suitable for your individual case.

I am absolutely terrified of the dentist. What can I do?

We understand that dental anxiety is very real, and we take it seriously. For patients who feel nervous about implant surgery, we offer both IV sedation and oral sedation at our Sandgate practice. IV sedation allows you to sleep through your procedure entirely, while oral sedation helps you feel deeply relaxed. Dr Vikram Bansal will discuss which option is most suitable for you at your consultation.

How long do All-on-X implants last?

With good oral hygiene, regular dental review appointments, and appropriate care, All-on-X implants are designed to last many years — and in many cases, decades. The implants themselves are made from titanium, which integrates with the jawbone and is highly durable. The bridge attached to the implants may require maintenance or replacement over time depending on the material used and how well it is cared for. Factors such as smoking, uncontrolled diabetes, and poor oral hygiene can affect long-term outcomes, which is why your dentist will provide personalised maintenance guidance and schedule regular reviews to protect your investment long-term.
