Robert Duhig Dental to Sandgate Bayside Dental
The practice at 74 Loudon Street was established in 1992 by Dr Robert Duhig. It has operated from the same building ever since, caring for families across Sandgate, Shorncliffe, Brighton, Deagon and Bracken Ridge for more than 30 years.
It now operates as Sandgate Bayside Dental under Principal Dentist Dr Vikram Bansal. The name changed to reflect the bayside community the practice serves; the location, and much of the patient base, did not.
Some of our patients first came here in the 1990s. Others are booking for the first time this week. Both are treated the same way.
What a Visit Is Like
Many people find dental appointments difficult. The practice is set up with that in mind.
- Time to talk: Appointments are structured to leave room for questions before treatment is agreed.
- Options for anxious patients: IV and oral sedation are available, pre-booked and subject to a medical assessment beforehand.
- All ages: From a toddler’s first check-up to restorative work for older patients.
- Ceiling-mounted screens in the treatment rooms.
Getting Here
- Free parking: Street parking directly outside the practice on Loudon Street.
- Saturday appointments: First and third Saturday of each month, 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
- Public transport: Opposite the Sandgate Town Hall, about a two-minute walk from Sandgate Railway Station, with local bus routes stopping nearby.
- Weekday hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
Patients travel to us from across the bayside and the Redcliffe peninsula, including Shorncliffe, Brighton, Deagon, Bracken Ridge, Bald Hills, Boondall, Taigum, Fitzgibbon, Clontarf and Redcliffe.
Technology at the Practice
Diagnosis and treatment planning are done on site, which means fewer referrals elsewhere.
- 3D cone beam imaging (CBCT): Used to plan dental implants and wisdom teeth removal in the clinic, rather than sending you to a radiology centre for a scan.
- Digital radiography: Digital x-rays are faster than film and use less radiation.
- Intra-oral cameras: You see what the dentist sees, so you can decide on treatment with the images in front of you.

Yes. We are in the same building at 74 Loudon Street, Sandgate. The practice was established there in 1992 as Robert Duhig Dental. It now operates as Sandgate Bayside Dental under Principal Dentist Dr Vikram Bansal, in the same location and serving the same community.
Which health funds are you a preferred provider for?
Sandgate Bayside Dental is a preferred provider for nib, Westfund, HCF, TUH and HIF. Preferred provider status usually means a higher rebate and a lower gap for members of those funds. We accept all major health funds, with HICAPS available for on-the-spot claiming.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. Sandgate Bayside Dental offers interest-free payment plans through Afterpay, Zip, Humm and DentiCare, from $50 per week. Payment plans can be used alongside your health fund rebate. Ask at reception or when you book and we will explain the options that apply to your treatment.
Is there parking at the practice?
Yes. There is free street parking directly outside the practice on Loudon Street. We are opposite the Sandgate Town Hall, about a two-minute walk from Sandgate Railway Station, and local bus routes stop nearby.
Are you open on Saturdays?
We open on the first and third Saturday of each month, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Weekday hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The practice is closed on Sundays and on all other Saturdays.
Do you treat anxious patients?
Yes. A number of our patients have put off dental care, in some cases for years. Our approach is to explain each step before it happens and work at a pace you set. IV sedation and oral sedation are available, pre-booked and subject to a medical assessment beforehand.
Do you offer emergency dental appointments?
Yes. We keep appointment time available for dental emergencies during opening hours, Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM and on the first and third Saturday of each month. Call 3269 2443 if you have dental pain, a broken tooth or a lost filling.
