Dr Vikram Bansal (Vik) BDS MDS
Principal Dentist
Dr Vik graduated with his Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2005 and completed a Master of Dental Surgery before relocating to Australia in 2013, practising in Townsville and then Redcliffe before joining Sandgate Bayside Dental as Principal Dentist.
His clinical focus is dental implants and All-on-X full-arch treatment, planned and placed with in-house 3D CBCT imaging, and he provides option of IV sedation for anxious patients — one of the reasons nervous patients from across North Brisbane and the Redcliffe peninsula choose the practice. Patients describe him as thorough and straightforward: options, costs and steps in writing before anything begins.
Dr Shelly Bansal
Senior Dental Surgeon
Dr Shelly is a Senior Dental Surgeon whose clinical focus is root canal treatment, children’s dentistry and preventative care.
Many of the practice’s long-standing families see Dr Shelly for their six-monthly care, and she has a particular knack for putting children at ease on their first visits — calm, unhurried, and explaining each step in plain language before it happens. Her preventative focus means small problems are caught while they are still small.
Dr Emma Marshall
Senior Dental Surgeon
Dr Emma is a Senior Dental Surgeon whose clinical focus is cosmetic dentistry and clear aligners, from whitening and bonding through to porcelain veneers planned with digital smile design.
She takes a special interest in helping nervous patients feel at ease — pacing appointments around your comfort, building in breaks, and never moving faster than you are ready for. Patients who have avoided the dentist for years often start with Dr Emma.
Our Support Team
Our dentists are supported by an experienced front desk and chairside team who have welcomed many of the same families for years. They handle health fund claims on the spot through HICAPS, help with payment plan applications, and are used to gently talking through nerves on the phone before a first visit — tell them how you are feeling and they will take it from there.
Amie-Lee Smith
Dental Receptionist
Amie has been in the dental industry for over 10 years, with experience in both dental assisting and reception, and has completed her Cert III in Dental Assisting. She has a passion for helping others. Having recently moved from New South Wales, she now calls Brisbane home.
Taylor Stephenson
Dental Assistant
Taylor joined the practice in July 2020 after completing her Cert III in Dental Assisting, and has built valuable knowledge and experience chairside since. She really enjoys being part of the team. Outside work, Taylor loves photography, arts and crafts projects, reading and spending time with family and friends.
Thayla Crane
Dental Assistant
Thayla joined Sandgate Bayside Dental in October 2021. She is passionate about dentistry and loves the staff and the patients who walk through the doors. In her spare time she likes to dance, hang out with family and friends, and play with her puppy Pickles.

Which dentist will I see at my appointment?
You can request any of our dentists when you book — Dr Vikram Bansal, Dr Shelly Bansal or Dr Emma Marshall — and we will keep you with the same dentist for ongoing care wherever possible. If you have no preference, our reception team will match you with the earliest suitable appointment.
Do your dentists treat anxious patients?
Yes. All of our dentists care for nervous patients regularly, with longer appointment times and breaks during treatment. Where more support is needed, IV sedation and oral sedation are available — both pre-booked, with a medical assessment beforehand.
How do I book with a specific dentist?
Call 3269 2443 and tell our reception team who you would like to see, or use our online booking and note your preference. We will confirm availability and keep future visits with the same dentist wherever possible.
