Affordable Dentist for Brisbane Kids & Veterans – Government Bulk Billed Dentistry
Affordable Dentist for Brisbane Kids & Veterans – Government Bulk Billed Dentistry
On 1 January 2014 the Australian Government introduced the Child Dental Benefits Schedule or CDBS under Medicare to provide financial assistance to eligible families for dental services for their children aged between 2 and 17 years.
Your Brisbane child is eligible for CDBS if they are aged between 2-17 years at any point in the calendar year and receive a relevant Australian government payment at any point in the calendar year.
The CDBS provides Access to up to $1000 in benefits, capped over a two year calendar period that can be used for these dental services. The entire benefit cap of $1000 can be used in the first year if necessary. If there is a balance remaining in the benefit cap in the second year, this can only be accessed if the child is eligible in the second year. It is important that if you have accessed some of your benefits and change dentists that you tell the new dentist that some treatment has already proceeded.
How to find out whether your children are eligible to be covered under CDBS?
The best and the easiest way to find this out is by calling Sandgate Bayside Dental on 3269 2443 or by visiting the practice, and presenting your medicare card. You don’t necessarily need the medicare card itself as long as you can get us the number of the card and the IRN of the child. The practice staff can then within minutes find out the eligibility of your child and the balance money available.
What dental treatments are covered under CDBS ?
CDBS services are quite wide but are not completely comprehensive. Most patients will find its schedule of services more than adequate, but there will be the occasional difficulty due to some limitations. Check ups, scale & cleans, routine x rays, fillings etc are all covered though certain restrictions may still apply. Certain things like mouthguard are not covered under the scheme.
The scheme is being administered by Medicare Australia. CDBS patients are warmly welcomed, please call our friendly reception team on 3269 2443
